Fitness Guidelines for Members

Guidelines to follow when using the Fitness Centre.

The safety of our staff and members is our number one priority, and while things will look a little different under our socially distanced procedures following government guidelines you will be able to enjoy your fitness session in a safe and secure environment.

In the interest of safety please do not enter the Fitness Centre if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, feel unwell or you have been in contact with anyone who might have symptoms. Please wash your hands using the hand wash and sanitising stations provided around the facility.

Please ensure you read this information thoroughly before visiting the Fitness Centre. All the measures detailed below are based on government guidance and our own risk assessments.

Tier 2 restrictions for the fitness industry

Gyms can open and group exercise classes can continue following the previous guidance however as per government guidelines “organised indoor sport, physical activity and exercise classes will only be permitted if it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with (or share a support bubble with)” As per these restrictions we will not be able to allow any members into the fitness centre for their booked activity until 3 minutes before their gym/swim session is due to start. For classes Members are still required to arrive 15 minutes before the class starts. However, we will not be able to allow Members into the Fitness Centre until the instructor is here to safely file the class participants into the class following the social distancing guidelines

  • All activities must be booked online or over the phone prior to visiting the fitness centre
  • Activities can be booked 7 days in advance, cancellation rules remain in place, with at least 2 hours’ notice, and 3 strike rule
  • Arrive ready for your booked session to reduce using the changing room and shower at home
  • We will be limiting the number of members in certain areas of the club.
  • All activities will have maximum numbers allocated
  • We have implemented a one-way system (where possible) so we can maintain social distancing guidelines in all areas of the fitness centre
  • We welcome and appreciate your feedback, this can be done via email or over the phone to avoid interaction, but where this may be unavoidable, we have installed protective ‘sneeze screens’
  • Hand sanitiser stations will be located in reception and throughout the club.
  • Enhanced cleaning schedules to maintain a high level of hygiene, particularly across high contact points in the club.
  • Reduced class occupancy to allow for social distancing.
  • Team members will sanitise gym equipment after every bookable session.
  • Members to check the website or contact the fitness centre directly for timetable updates, user guidance and booking instructions
  • The duration of gym and pool sessions is 45minutes, to allow a 15-minute equipment cleaning turn around between sessions.
  • Members to arrive 15minutes before the start of a class, and on time for using the gym and pool
  • Floor signage to promote one-way flow system for moving around the facility
  • Face masks will not be mandatory for staff, unless their role requires this
  • Queue management system in place prior to entering the building – 2m makings on the floor
  • Reduced hours for overnight deep cleaning to comply with government guidance.
  • We will maximise ventilation in all areas of the gym/ studio and swimming pool (through air conditioning and opening windows) to ensure the circulation of fresh air
  • Personal Trainers will be operating and will be required to maintain social distancing
  • We will be limiting the number of members in certain areas of the club.
  • Please follow the floor markings and signs on your arrival. There are signs guiding you towards your booked activity when entering the Reception area.
  • Keep 2 metres between yourself and others at all times throughout your visit to the Fitness Centre.
  • To stay hydrated, bring your own “prefilled” water bottle to the fitness centre and bring your own yoga mat if you have one
  • Changing rooms and lockers will remain in use for swim users; however, we only have a reduced volume of lockers available to comply with social distancing guidelines
  • We advise you to arrive dressed for your booked session and prepared to shower at home
  • All our bookable sessions have been timed in order to reduce the number of people we have in the building at one time. This is to adhere to the government guidelines to protect our members and our staff.
  • You can book 2 consecutive gym sessions in one day but we ask members to leave the gym between sessions to allow staff to complete a mandatory clean between sessions.
  • A consecutive Gym session and class can be booked but again we ask members to leave the gym/ studio and go back down to Reception to scan in for the next activity between sessions to enable staff to complete a mandatory clean between sessions
  • Swim sessions will remain the same and cannot be booked alongside a gym session or class. This is due to members needing to “arrive swim-ready” and the changing rooms are currently out of use at this time.
  • Classes/courses will remain the same with a maximum of one class per member per day.
