Phyllis Court is proud to have completed an assessment to be successfully accredited as 'Covid-19 Confident' by the AA.

The scheme created by the AA 'supports the hospitality industry in re-establishing and rebuilding consumer confidence as parts of the UK come out of lockdown'. To achieve the certification, Phyllis Court had to go through an assessment and pass the AA's stringent criteria. The accreditation indicates that the Club has in place the necessary risk assessments, safety measures and staff training to safely operate in line with the UK's government guidelines.

CEO and Club Secretary, Chris Hogan, commented on the certification, ‘Achieving AA Covid Confident accreditation certifies for our Members, guests and staff using the Clubhouse, restaurant and hotel rooms that we are operating safely within the government guidance. Safety is our utmost priority and I'd like to thank the team who have worked hard to make the re-opening of the Club possible and who have ensured that the necessary measures are in place across the estate to keep everyone safe."

To achieve the certification and ensure the safe re-opening of the Club, the team at Phyllis Court had to implement numerous changes and meet strict criteria, by putting measures in place to avoid cross contamination and keep people safe.

Changes were made throughout the estate, with Perspex screens between staff and guests at reception and on the bars. There is a rigorous cleaning programme across the Club and grounds and touch points have been reduced meaning the cloakrooms and pigeonholes are no longer available. All but essential items were removed from bedrooms, and there have been changes to the arrival and departure process.

To allow for social distancing, there is a one-way system throughout the Clubhouse, and in bathrooms every other sink has been blocked off. In the restaurant and bars there are contactless payment methods. A Mobile Ordering service has also been introduced to allow Members and guests to order drinks and sandwiches to their table in the Clubhouse. Tables have been spread out throughout the Clubhouse and grounds and there is hand sanitiser in every room. In the Ballroom Restaurant staff serving food and drinks are wearing masks when in direct contact with Members, menus are single use and Members are asked to remain seated when ordering food, drinks and awaiting the bill to avoid unnecessary queuing.

This accreditation highlights the fact that the Club has altered its ways of working to ensure the safety of all Members, guests and staff and to ensure visitors feel comfortable when on the premises.
